Tracks: 2009/2010 VANS Mentorship Program

12 – 21 Aug 2010
******

Tracks features the work of emerging artists Raina McDonald, Leslie Menagh + Chantal Tardiff, alongside their individual mentors Dawn MacNutt, Sarah Maloney + Ilan Sandler.

The 10 month-long VANS Mentorship program ends each year with an exhibition that highlights the work of participating emerging artists, while being complimented by one work by their individual mentors.

The VANS’ Mentorship Program assists visual artists in the province to strengthen their practice by making contacts on behalf of emerging artists with those who are active in the profession, bridging the gap between studio activity & public presentation, between theory and practice for artists who are otherwise unsupported. Established artists help emerging artists to develop skills, define decision-making philosophies, to find access to information, resources and to provide the support they need to realize their goals.

By investing intensely in a few individuals each year, the VANS Mentorship Program contributes on a wider scale to the overall strength, sustainability and vibrancy of the visual arts community in Nova Scotia.
