NEW NEW DATE: Thursday, October 6

TIME: 6:30 PM-8:30 PM

LOCATION: 2482 Maynard Street

ABOUT THE EVENT

Stimming with touch can be grounding, satisfying, healing, and playful; a helpful tool for navigating and interacting with the world, especially for neurodivergent folks and those who are sensory seeking/sensory sensitive. While it can take many forms, tactile stimming (self stimulation) may including fidgeting with objects or toys. Guided by Sof Kreidstein (they/them), participants will make multi-textural tassel stim toys through tactile exploration with textiles; creating in response to their curiosities, needs, preferences, and sensitivities. This space is open to all, though it will be centred around neurodivergent experiences.

Those taking part in this workshop will be encouraged to participate in the QUIET PARADE (more information below) as a part of Nocturne 2022, with the option of making stim toys to share with those attending the event.

Registration is highly encouraged although folks may drop in. We cannot guarantee that there will be space though. You can register for the event via the Google form, follow the link here or you can email wren@eyelevel.art to register

Email sofkreidstein@gmail.com if you have any questions or other accessibility needs/concerns.

There will be a video tutorial shared after the workshop for folks who can't attend in person; and additionally the option to participate in connection with the Quiet Parade remotely through this project.

ABOUT QUIET PARADE

Organized by Aislinn Thomas, in collaboration with MSVU Art Gallery and with support from Eyelevel, QUIET PARADE is a low-stimulation celebration taking place in Kjipuktuk/Halifax on October 15 as part of Nocturne 2022. As its name suggests, QUIET PARADE will be a parade but also a platform to experience a vibrant, extravagant, sensory-friendly event that embraces access as a shared and interdependent practice. QUIET PARADE seeks to embody a quiet that interrupts the noise of the city, experimenting with new ways of collectively creating and sharing space.
