What are the questions of history, class, gender, social relations and representations raised by 60 odd photographs and several thousand pages of diary writings by a working class woman? Hannah Cullwick was an English domestic servant; her representations span the years 1853-74. Heather Dawkins will speak about the archival material, fascinating in itself, as well as outline some of the theoretical developments which have recently informed the reading of historical representations.
