“My current work in photography involves singular images, with each being individually structured to suggest its own narrative possibilities. The photographs are overtly staged scenarios or tableaux vivants, juxtaposing a human figure in relationship to a number of chosen objects. A textual item is usually included as a guide to one ‘intended’ interpretation of the pictorial elements. All of these photographs make reference to some form of cliché: clichéd images, issues, attitudes, situations, etc,. One responds in a knee-jerk fashion to such ostensibly familiar information, usually considering pertinent contextual details. The work attempts to point out, exploit and sometimes subvert this tendency which figures so prominently in our construction of meaning per se.”
