Call for Board Members!

We have positions opening up for chair, vice-chair, and director at large!

What does the Board do?

The Board oversees the organization, including development and changes. Board Members also offer support to staff members in their responsibilities. As Eyelevel is a not-for-profit, Board members are expected to help with fundraising for the organization. Finally, Board Members oversee the organization’s finances.

Why should you be a Board Member?

Board Members are integral to Eyelevel! As a member of the Board, you will gain experience in not-for-profit arts administration. You will also be exposed to cool new ideas and networks! You will get the chance to participate in Board training sessions, including anti-oppression training. Finally, you will be serving your community and Halifax’s vibrant arts scene!

Commitment:

Board Members have a hands-on role in running Eyelevel and are asked to commit 2-3 hours per week to the organization over the span of a two-year term. Responsibilities include attending monthly Board meetings, sitting on committees (human resources, engagement, programming, finance), as well as completing various tasks!

Eye level and its community benefit greatly from our Board, but we also hope that you will gain things from the experience! If there are new skills you would like to learn, projects that interest you, or areas of improvement that you envision for Eyelevel, we would love to hear your ideas!

Helpful experience:

  • Program evaluation/needs assessment techniques such as task mapping
  • Fundraising initiatives
  • Providing HR support and developing HR policy
  • Community outreach and engagement
  • Multilingual accessibility
