A multi-media installation which uses photographs, video, super 8 film and a mass of objects. “In the Palace of the Queen” Corry addresses the way in which photography and other more recent technologies innovations have intruded into our lives and altered some of our perceptions. Corry’s installation looks into her own life and that of her mother while mediating various memories. “Using my mother’s photograph as the starting point for this exhibition, I tested it as the carrier of ambiguous and conflicting meaning. It is shuffled into a selection of other photographs for comparison. In an attempt to understand the medium, a photographic portrait is seen through (the transparency of) another medium, a film, and a portrait is constructed with a “frozen moment” in video. Still other forms of portraits are found in objects gathered for the furnishing of the “Palace”.
