The Oblivion Seekers
******
The Oblivion Seekers is multi-disciplinary piece which draws on my personal history, growing up in the 1950s, within an Islamic family, in London, Ontario. Beginning with the music of Egyptian singer, Umm Kalthum and the prose of European writer, Isabelle Eberhardt, this work, through the combination of visual elements and sound tapes, traces the possibilities of encounter and response to eastern culture.
