Cutting Losses #1 combines the evocative abstraction of expert dance movement with literal spoken text for a maximum theatrical effect. This dance work deals with the theme of losing, and the paradox of gain inherent in loss. In between this major theme are other currents of emotion; the experience of burning through life’s barriers, confronting nonchalance, despair, anger, fear, ecstasy, and finally release. Maguire create and performs in theatrical events focusing on dance, most often in combination with other media.
