Recent Drawings

This exhibition offers selected recent drawings by four diverse artists who currently reside in Halifax. John Clark orchestrates various media, gestural processes, and formal devices while resolutely constructing images derived from commonplace subject matter. The refreshing mixed media drawings by Carol White also embrace the meaning of specific subject matter while structuring surprising spatial shifts and inventive surfaces. The light filled, colored pencil drawings by David Haigh present poetic insights into the domestic environment and explore a more literal attitude toward representation. Ron Shuebrook calculates and improvises charcoal, graphite, and conte marks into spatially tense, geometric configurations that preserve the traces of the working procedure.
