Dub poetry goes the range from describing personal reality to a historical and cultural perspective to advancing ideas about social change. And the language is simple; it’s part of people’s everyday lives. Clifton Joseph presented the performance “DUBZZ”. He also explored the roots of Dub expression in a workshop dealing with the history and politics of Dub poetry. “Four the Moment” is a four woman a cappella group from Halifax: Delvina Bernard, Kim Bernard-Morris, Andrea Currie, and Debby Jones. Their music is a powerful fusion of social protest and history – singing, expressing the struggle, resistance, and solidarity of people of colour, women and workers.
