Fieldwork: Artist's talk
In Fall of 2015, Eyelevel hosted Jennifer MacLatchy as local Fieldwork artist-in-residence. MacLatchy's embodied performative research in Birch Cove Ranger was significantly influenced by the work of Shawna Dempsey and Lorri Millan, particularly their ongoing project, Lesbian National Parks and Services. Always aiming to situate the practices of local artists in a larger context, Eyelevel is thrilled to host Shawna Dempsey for an artist's talk before she travels to The Lunenburg Symposium: Mentorship in the Arts. Thanks to Visual Arts Nova Scotia for bringing in this important artist.
This talk is presented in partnership with MSVU Art Gallery whose programming reflects the university’s educational mission by emphasizing the representation of women as cultural subjects and producers. Following the talk, MSVU Art Gallery generously hosted a reception in the gallery.
