In this work by Cyana Werden the problematic situation in our society of the violence of living/surviving within limited means is addressed. The artist’s mother endured great hardship and social discrimination in a time before single parenting became acceptable. “Now due to cutbacks in social aid, high socts in prescription drugs and housing for seniors, my mother’s mental attitude deteriorates,” - said Werden. In actualization of these frustrations Werden has utilized found objects, familiar objects and made objects to address the social reality of poverty and anxiety.
