Barbara Akoak

Barbara Akoak is an Inuk artist originally from Nunavut, and has been living between Halifax and Iqaluit for the last 12 years. She graduated from Nunatta Arctic College’s Jewellery and metalwork program to gain the skills to become a goldsmith. Not only is she a fine artist in jewellery, but she also enjoys skills from her culture such as sewing, and beadwork. Often incorporating knowledge from her culture into her work, and uses her work and platform to advocate for Indigenous rights.
