A screenshot of a wikipedia page. A bold lettered title at the top of the image reads "Queer Community Archives," with a smaller heading below reading "Background and context." The page is full of smaller black type with blue hyperlinks, and to the right side there is a thumbnail image of a group of brightly dressed people holding a handmade banner.

Eyelevel welcomes Body Weaver as our Writer In Residence!

The Writer In Residence Program supports two emerging critical arts writers in developing their writing practice under the mentorship of Francesca Ekwuyasi. Brody will be in-residence at Eyelevel from April to September, 2024 creating two pieces of writing that animate Eyelevel programs, which will be published in our forthcoming Annual Publication (a small printed book published each year), as well as a third work in partnership with Visual Arts News that will cover a project outside of Eyelevel's programming and will be published in the Visual Arts News online magazine.

About Brody Weaver:

Brody Weaver is white settler emerging media artist, writer and educator living and learning in Kjipuktuk. Her art and writing have been featured in C Magazine, Visual Arts News, Peripheral Review (forthcoming), exhibition catalogues, and even uploaded to Wikipedia. As a genderqueer woman, she is fixated on the construction of knowledge about gender, sexuality and medicine. She aims to work from a critical standpoint to interrogate the central role that power plays in what is known and knowable, and who is seen as knowing. http://brodyweaver.com
