Sculptures
Groombridge creates objects that are a sensitive articulation of sculptural elements allowing for a diversity of aesthetic, intellectual and emotional events to occur. He uses steel, a material common to sculpture, in combination with photographic elements to create works which reflect a gestural simplicity. Over and over again terms such as contemplative, serine and meditative are used to describe Brian Groombridge’s work. The quietism of his art is its most singular and estimable quality, perhaps even its basis. Groombridge’s work offers a plurality of possible interpretations. It invites the viewer to foster a contemplative mood as one considers the visual, metaphorical and even literary components of his work.
